Canopy Emergency Release


Created removable hinge pins from piano wire to allow someone to open the canopy from the outside in case of emergency.

Fuel Gauge Marking & Flow Test


Ordered up some fuel delivery and marked the tanks in 5Gal increments.  Performed all the fuel flow tests to ensure adequate fuel delivery.

Cowl Heat Shield


Used adhesive backed foil for heat shields on the cowl where the exhaust pipes run.  Used an added layer of fiberfrax where the clearance was less than 1/2".

Made the vortilons.  Cut the initial shapes out of 4-ply bid, so the final product ended up a little fat, but it'll work.

Cowling Finishing

Went through the drudgery of applying wet micro, sanding, and repeating until the cowl was smooth. Spent the time on the upper cowl, but did the bare minimum on the lower as I expect it may change in the not do distant future.

Plenum Modification

Shrunk the rear portion of the plenum to get a lower cowl profile while re-working the cowl due to clearance issues.  Should have waited until the plenum was finished before making the upper cowl to begin with -Capt. Hindsight







Upper Cowl

Went to do the final fitting of the upper cowl and it was hitting the cooling plenum in multiple places. Had to do a lot of re-work to the cowl, and to the plenum to get acceptable clearances and profile.
